Blue caves

“Blue Caves” is an amazing natural sight on the north of Zakynthos. It’s a long passageway with caves, which leads to the Big and Small cave. The biggest one is called “Blue Grotto”. They were discovered in 1897 and are named after the incredible azure of the waters. It’s best to visit the caves early in the morning when the sunlight creates beautiful shapes on the walls, which are reflected in the water, forming beautiful colourings. You can visit the caves by renting a boat or participate in one of the excursions organized by tourist agencies, which usually combine the Blue Caves visit with a visit to the Navagio beach.
