Museum of Ierapetra

The Museum opened towards the end of the previous century, during the Turkish occupation. Among its collections items from the Minoan, the Geometric, the Archaic, the Classic, the Hellenistic, the Hellenoroman and the Roman art are displayed. The Museum is closed on Mondays and open Tuesday to Sunday 8.30-15.00. The ticket costs 2 euro (reduced: 1 euro for students outside the EU, EU citizens over 65). The entrance is free for people under 18 years old, for students within the EU, for students of Classical Sciences outside the EU, for ICOM-ICOMOS members, for tour guides and journalists. On the following days the admission is free for everyone: Sundays from 1.11-31.3, on the first Sunday of every month (except for July, August, September), on national holidays, on 6.3 in the memory of Melina Merkouri, on 18.4 (International Monument Day), on 18.5 (International Museum Day), on 5.6 (International Environment Day), on the last weekend of September, on European Days of Heritage.
