Palamidi
The fortress of Palamidi is in the eastern side of the city of Nafplio on a 216m hill. It was named after the local hero Palamidis, son of Nafplios. It was built and fortified during the 2nd period of Venetocracy (1686-1715) and designed by the engineers Giaxich and Lasalle. The castle is accessible from the street or from the infamous 999 steps. No matter which way you chose to climb up the hill, the view of and from the fortress is bound to reward you.
