Castle of Mystras

The Castle of Mystras was built in 1249 and has been an UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site since 1989. Today, Mystras with its medieval castle, its Frankish citadel and its four fortified settlements, withholds inside its walls houses and palaces and is famous for its late-byzantine monuments, monasteries and churches with great wall-paintings, all around the archaeological site.
