Sitia
Sitia is a beautiful, seaside small city of eastern Crete. It is the home of great Greek writer Vintsentso Kornaro and a popular touristic destination.
The city’s Archaeological Museum includes exhibits from 3500BC to 500AC.
The Kazarma, a fortress in the medieval side of Sitia has been restored and is open to the crowd offering an amazing view over the bay and town of Sitia. During the summer period, cultural events, theatre shows and concerts take place on the fortress.
High mountains, plateaus, small flatlands and valleys, gorges, caves, rocky and sandy coasts, Mediterranean and African climate compose an unbelievable image, which is hard to find elsewhere. In Sitia there is also the famous palm-tree forest of Vai.
