Plaka, Milos
Plaka is a traditional settlement and the capital of the island. It’s at 220 meters height and offers a great view over the bay of Milos. Plaka stands out for the genuine traditional architecture, the narrow paved streets, the picturesque little shops and the favorable climate. If you find yourselves in Plaka, you should visit the Venetian castle built in the 13th century, the church of Holy Mary’s birth (Gennisi tis Theotokou) and the catholic church of Holy Mary of the Roses (Panaghia ton Rodon). The area on top of the hill is called Kastro (=castle), and the view from there is breathtaking.
