Amfilochia
Amfilochia is a small seaside city built on the inside of the bay of the Amvrakikos gulf, over two hills. It’s on a very important location, since it has been the only passage way from the west Continental Greece region to Epirus for centuries, even after the modern underwater tunnel from Aktio to Preveza was built. The combination of mountain and sea are a natural shelter for boats, protecting them from the strong winds. It’s noteworthy that never has a shipwreck ever been recorded in the area, in spite of the strong winds.
